Nathan Turk
Nathan
Turk born Minsk, Poland 1895-1988 The matching,
eye-popping outfits Nathan Turk created for the Maddox Brothers and Rose
during the 1940s and 1950s were as much a part of the group's act as their
riotous onstage antics and high-volume hillbilly boogie. This exquisitely
tailored wool gabardine suit and satin shirt, worn by the group's
guitarist, Cal Maddox, are embroidered with chain-stitched hearts and
flowers reminiscent of the traditional folk art of Turk's native
Poland. --Country Music Hall of
Fame
